About Us
Edmtrain was founded, created, and owned by Mike Udovic in 2013. His first core principle was to provide an easy way to listen to the artists prior to buying an event ticket, something especially time-consuming for those new to electronic music. This principle persists to this day, with the headliner of each show required to have a link to their music. No matter how many years we've been in the scene, we don't want anyone to feel like an outsider for not knowing a particular artist. This also manifests in the way we name artist aliases, for example Tiësto (VER:WEST Set).
Because of this focus on artist music during event discovery, the initial prototype was named EDM Tracks. This quickly changed to EDM Train due to the former domain name being unavailable. The design of the app and website is reminiscent of physical train tracks, whether intentionally or not. The EDM follow train hashtag was entirely unrelated, for those old enough to remember. Perhaps it was something in the air at the time. The name was then rebranded to Edmtrain as it evolves into its own concept, as opposed to the words EDM and Train. This change is largely controversial, with many still preferring to type EDMTrain or EDM Train to our distress. Adding to the controversy, there will never be agreement on what the term EDM exactly means. For those that associate it only with a specific subgenre, please rest easy knowing that we have no preference on what types of electronic events are posted.

This leads to Mike's next core principle: Capture as many electronic-focused events as possible, regardless of subgenre. From mainstream concerts at stadiums, to underground raves in tunnels, we love it all and aspire to capture it all. The more unique the experience the better, which is why our events are geared towards artists that produce original music or DJs that spent years honing their craft.
Mike wanted to create a list that locals love to use, and therefore, indispensable to travelers. Not everyone lives in a big city, and music people don't think twice about traveling to see their favorite artists. Because of this, he enabled viewing multiple cities and whole states simultaneously since inception. Initially capturing events in just 4 locations, he added new locations and functionality over the years until the entire United States and Canada were tracked. Grateful for those early users and close friends that motivated Mike to expand into more cities, even though the product still needed a lot of work admittedly.
To better achieve the mission to capture the best event list, another core principle of Mike's quickly arose: Enable the community to contribute to the events and artists. This allows us to peek into the local expertise of the most amazing fans that simply like to help others. Their knowledge and passion for sharing are foundational to the service today.
Mike's last core principle is that usability comes first. Design the product around the frequent concert-goer, while making it simple enough for first-time users. No intrusive popup advertising. Only integrate advertising that is relevant to the music scene, which is based on our individual relationships with a venue, promoter, or artist. Thank you to our partners that help support further improvements.
Other genres, such as hip hop, pop, rock, and country, were added much later for those of us who enjoy all live music. Even the most die-hard electronic music fans may appreciate a performance by an Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, and countless others.
After 6 years of Mike being the only member of Edmtrain, Anthony Attia joined the team in 2019 as the second member and part-owner. His mission being to establish and nourish our relationships. Social media became an important way of reaching people we haven't before. Anthony has been instrumental in creating our presence in the music industry. Anyone that speaks with him can tell that he cares for their well-being.
Every one of our team members that have joined since then are unique and legendary ravers in their own right. Each providing a different perspective on a scene so diverse and bottomless.
