Movement Music Festival reinforced its status as the premier techno festival in the US with an impressive 17th edition in Detroit over Memorial Day weekend. More than 150 artists across six stages turned Hart Plaza into a utopia of underground beats for more than 30,000 fans that attended from May 27 to 29. The lineup, production and vibe were nothing short of stellar.
The storied festival brought some of the biggest names in techno as well as some rare acts, making it one for the books. The Movement Stage made way for enthralling electronic duo Basement Jaxx on Saturday. Then techno queen Charlotte de Witte, who just released her new EP Overdrive, wowed on the stage on Sunday. An icon and one of the hottest producers these days, Skrillex, got on the decks for the penultimate slot and energized the crowd. That led to an epic closing set by the legendary British electronic music group Underworld.

Another highlight was an exhilarating Dom Dolla b2b John Summit set at the Stargate Stage on Monday. The last day also featured Swedish DJ SPFDJ at the Underground Stage. Movement got off to a strong start with the duo Three 6 Mafia from Memphis on Saturday at the Waterfront Stage, and Masters At Work at the Pyramid Stage. Sunday spotlighted a unique collaborative showcase with Defected Records and Kevin Saunderson's KMS Records at the Stargate Stage. A VIP Pop-Up Stage offered an extra elevated experience.

Movement this year showed the world yet again that it is a leading festival in curating a lineup that presents both underground legends and the most talented undercards, allowing fans to explore and broaden their musical palate.
Since its inception, Movement has built stages that integrate the urban vibe of downtown Detroit and let the music shine. Detroit was the birthplace of techno and that tradition and reputation has been sealed yet again with the grand success of this latest edition of Movement.
